Chicken Sausage Pasta


Are you running out of dinner ideas? I got you!


This CHICKEN SAUSAGE PASTA is an incredibly easy, comforting meal for any night of the week!

Here is what you need:

  • 16 oz bag or box of uncooked pasta: I love all of Trader Joe's pastas, I used the Organic Brown Rice Fusilli Pasta for this recipe

  • 5 links or 1 lb of uncooked chicken sausages: I used Trader Joe's Uncooked Chicken Sicilian Sausage - these are delicious!

  • Avocado or olive oil

  • 8 oz of baby portobello mushrooms

  • Garlic powder

  • Italian seasoning

  • Pepper

  • Marinara sauce: I used Trader Joe's Organic Marinara Sauce, I really love this one because it doesn't have any unnecessary added sugar and is super flavorful

  • Shredded Parmesan cheese

  • Finely chopped basil

How to do it:

First, heat your avocado or olive oil in a medium-sized pan over medium-high heat.

One-by-one, cut the casting off of each sausage by running a scissors up the sausage. Discard the castings and put the ground sausage in the pan. Using your spatula, break up the sausage - just like you would with taco meat!

While sausage is cooking, boil pasta according to the instructions on the box/bag.

If your mushrooms aren't presliced, cup them up! Once sausage appears to be halfway cooked, throw in your sliced mushrooms into the pan.


When pasta is fully cooked, put it in a large mixing bowl.

Once chicken sausage is fully cooked and mushrooms are soft, mix both into large bowl with pasta.

Mix in marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and pepper. The heat of the chicken sausage, mushrooms, and pasta should heat up the marinara sauce well.

Plate and top with shredded Parmesan cheese and chopped basil.
