Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Your new favorite dinner recipe is here! TURKEY LETTUCE WRAPS! Ready in 30 minutes or less and bursting with delicious Asian flavors, this meal gives P.F. Changs a run for their money!

What you'll need for the filling:
Avocado or olive oil
Sesame oil
A small red onion, finely chopped
A medium red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 lb of ground turkey
1 8oz can of sliced water chestnuts, finely chopped
A head of lettuce
Arrowroot starch: this is used to thicken the sauce, if you don't have this in your pantry, no worries! It isn't crucial or you may substitute with corn starch.
What you'll need for the sauce:
Tamari, soy sauce, or coconut aminos: I used tamari for mine!
Sesame oil
Vinegar: I used distilled white vinegar
Minced garlic
Garlic powder
Sriracha sauce: omit if you don't like spice or add more if you want them extra spicy!
Ground ginger
Optional toppings:
Green onion, finely chopped
Cashews, finely chopped: I used Trader Joe's Chile & Garlic Cashews and they were delicious!
Black sesame seeds
Materials you'll need:
Cutting board and sharp knife for chopping the vegetables and toppings
Large frying pan
Spatula
Small bowl and fork for mixing the sauce
Measuring cups and spoons
Serving spoon
How to make them:
First, heat avocado/olive oil and sesame oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

Add the red onion and red bell pepper to pan and cook until they start to soften, about 5 minutes or so.

Next, add the ground turkey to pan and break apart with spatula.

While the ground turkey mixture is cooking, whisk up all sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

Also, start to peel the lettuce head to form cups. I find this is easiest by chopping off the entire bottom of the head and then peeling the layers apart.
Once the ground turkey is fully cooked, reduce the heat to low and add in the chopped water chestnuts and sauce and sprinkle arrowroot starch over top of mixture.
Mix until sauce starts to thicken, about 5 minutes.

Scoop out the mixture and place into prepared lettuce cups. Top with chopped green onion, chopped cashews, and black sesame seeds. Maybe even drizzle some of my Homemade Peanut Sauce over top! Enjoy!!!
